A Bible-Saturated Home:
Throughout the book of Deuteronomy, Moses impresses upon the children of Israel the importance of training their own children in the laws, commands, statutes, and judgments of the LORD. David in Psalms 1, 19 and 119 magnifies the Scriptures, as well as those who meditate on It day and night. The apostle Paul pleads the same in Ephesians 6, as he instructs children to obey their parents in the Lord and charges parents to bring their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
As our country plunges further into a post-Christian society, God’s call for us to immerse our children in His Word becomes vitally important. But with the pressures of social media, the entertainment industry, and the internet, how do we ensure our children are saturated with the Bible during their upbringing? How do we elevate Scripture & Its divine message above all of the competing messages bombarding them during their development? We, the Alexanders, plan to share with you our ongoing, daily efforts to raise our children in a Biblical home in the midst of an ungodly world.
The Alexanders are a family of 16. We have a foursome of siblings we adopted 5 years ago, and 10 biological children. Our two eldest sons were highly involved in Bible quizzing, Bible Bee, and our early Ohio Scriptoriums and they now live on their own; while our eldest daughter is getting married this July to a young man she met through the Bible Bee. Tim and Darlene grew up in Scripture memory events and competitions, and reside with 14 of their children in Akron, OH.
